Portrun Development Association is a local voluntary not for profit community group which has been in existence for more than 20 years. The main objective for the association is the promotion of our local community on matters such as community and rural development, social inclusion, protection of our natural environment and the promotion of our heritage in Portrunny and the surrounding area.

The key objectives of our association are;

  • To represent the interests of our local community.
  • To enhance the quality of life in our community through volunteering, community programs, and partnerships with other organizations.
  • To ensure the area is developed in a manner which is sustainable, sensitive to the local community, environment and accessible to all.
  • To support the development and promotion of our local amenities, our waterways and enterprise.

Our Logo

The Portrun Development Association CLG logo was chosen by the Association in early 2017.   The group identifies with the image of the water, the boat and the islands which are the islands visible from the shoreline at Portrunny. These are Inchcleraun which is in the background. As the lake often has a haze this appears a blue green in fine weather. The two bright green islands are Dog island and Hag island, (Sedge).

The symbols are to represent some of the key aspects of our environment, our heritage and recreational pursuits.

The yellow is to reflect on the friendly community, the warm orange is a balance colour to blue, a community keeping a balance with the nature and the development of Portrunny, and is also the colour of the reed banks at particular times of the year.

The colours used are bright and fresh and aim to catch the eye.  They are positive and reflective of a community coming together to enhance its potential for the future.
